2015 Good Eating Guide Awards:

Irish Golf AwardsThe 2015 Good Eating Guide Awards were held in Fade Street Social recently and the Strawberry Tree was awarded Ireland’s Best Organic Restaurant 2015. Accepting the award on behalf of the Strawberry Tree Brigade was Tim Day - Head Chef.

Irish Food OscarsCongratulations & Celebrations… The Leinster Regional Final of Irish Restaurant Awards took place in Clyde Court Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin on Tuesday night 31st March and Macreddin Village yet again, took home three awards

  • Best Gastro Pub - Actons Pub & The Orchard Café

This means, we now go forward in 3 categories for the Regional and All Ireland Title!

Best Hidden Gem in Leinster:

Irish Golf AwardsThe Paul McGinley designed Macreddin Golf Course was named “Best Hidden Gem in Leinster” at the recent 2015 Golfers Guide to Ireland Awards. Collecting the award were David Parle, Macreddin Golf Club Captain and Aindriú Jackson, General Manager of Macreddin Golf Club.

3 of the best… The Restaurant Association of Ireland:

Irish Restaurants AwardsOn Wednesday the 16th of April The Restaurant association of Ireland held their regional awards ceremony in the Radisson Blu Royal Hotel. Our Strawberry Tree Restaurant took home not just one award but three awards in the same night… Best Hotel Restaurant, Best Wine Experience and our head chef Tim took home the Best Chef award.

Best Hotel Restaurant: This category recognises a hotel restaurant that demonstrates the very best in a dining experience as evidenced by a high level of attentiveness, impeccable service and well-structured, balanced and appropriate menu creating the ultimate experience for the visitor.

Best Wine Experience: This Award goes to the restaurant offering a balanced and appropriate wine list, an interesting range of producers and which strives for excellence in the service of wine.

Best Chef: This Award goes to the Chef who most impresses in their approach, design and execution of dishes and who is clearly pushing at culinary boundaries in Ireland.


Exclusive Wedding Venue of the Year 2014:

Weddings Onlone Exclusive Venue of the Year 2014On Monday the 10th of February in Clontarf Castle, The BrookLodge Hotel & Macreddin Village were awarded WeddingsOnline Exclusive Wedding Venue of the Year 2014. Valerie and Sarah had the honour of accepting this exclusive award from Mark Richardson, a member of the judging panel and Deirdre Zaiden, a WeddingsOnline representative.



We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the BrookLodge was the winner of the “Best Culinary Hotel” award at the Good Food Ireland Awards.

Good Food Ireland Winner of 'Culinary Hotel of the Year' 2012-2013: BrookLodgeRTE’s Mary Kennedy hosted the awards, and they were presented by An Taoiseach Enda Kenny TD. It’s a fabulous honour, particularly when you consider the calibre of the other nominees, which included The Shelbourne, The Merrion Hotel, The Cliff House Hotel and Kelly’s Hotel.

The awards are of particular importance in our on-going efforts to attract discerning food tourists from overseas, as Good Food Ireland is by far and away the leading marketing and promotion grouping for Food Tourism in Ireland, with Redmond O’Donoghue, its Chairman, also CEO of Failte Ireland.

In the nomination for the award, Good Food Ireland said “When you enter the world of BrookLodge and Wells Spa, you walk into paradise.  Yes this place is in its own private little world. This week we were delighted to be awarded the Failte Ireland "Best Customer Experience" in the extremely prestigious Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medals 2012. And on Monday we were told we had won the "Best Resort Spa" in RVSP Magazine's 2012 Spa Awards AND the "Restaurant of the Month" in Bord Bia's Just Ask Campaign. Needless to say we are very chuffed and honoured.

Best Resort Spa Failte Ireland 'Best Customer Experience' Restaurant of the Month


In an awards ceremony in the offices of Bord Bia on Tuesday, October 11th 2011, The BrookLodge Hotel & Wells Spa at Macreddin Village, Co. Wicklow was awarded the "Business Hotel of the Year 2012".

In her citation, Georgina said: "Former winners of this award have been hotels offering outstanding facilities for conferences and business guests, along with varying attributes that make the venue especially attractive, including a scenic or especially convenient location, great food and ancillary leisure activities for delegates. But this year’s winner not only has all of those – a beautiful rural location, excellent business and conference amenities and back up services, loads of down time activities (challenging or relaxing, as required), and a stunning food offering – they also have an extra ace up their sleeves, in the form of a Green-Meet programme. This hotel is renowned for its innovative and ethically-inspired approach to food and hospitality, and they have rightly identified that ‘hosting an environmentally responsible meeting is an important statement about your company’. To the hosts this all comes naturally – they have been doing it for years, and full details are given on their website; to most customers it will come as a refreshing new idea, a rewarding way of giving added value to their event, or any business stay. On Monday May 17th, at the launch of the 2010 Good Eating Guide, The Strawberry Tree restaurant was awarded “Best Leinster Restaurant”.

Tourism Minister Mary Hanafin T.D., presented Evan Doyle with a specially commissioned plate from the Tipperary Crystal Graham Knuttel collection at the awards held in Restaurant Patrick Guilbauds’, and attended by high profile restaurateurs from all parts of the country.

Other Winners included Roly’s Bistro, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud and Marco Pierre in Dublin, Ashford Castle in Mayo and Ballymaloe House in Cork.


In an awards ceremony in the offices of Bord Bia on Thursday, October 15th 2009, The BrookLodge Hotel & Wells Spa at Macreddin Village, Co. Wicklow was awarded the Hotel of the Year 2010.

In her citation, Georgina said "Numerous strands make up this complex operation – but, as you sense from the bright helpful staff and an atmosphere of care about the place, this very special hotel is more than the sum of its parts. Thanks to the vision of three brothers, Evan, Eoin and Bernard Doyle, a new “village” now exists on the site of a deserted one in a Wicklow valley - and they have devised many reasons for people to go there, including a Paul McGinley golf course and an equestrian centre amongst the many outdoor activities, and a Resort Spa. Weddings and events are key to its success, but kept completely separate from the main hotel, where there is a relaxed country house feel and a choice of dining in Ireland’s only certified organic restaurant, The Strawberry Tree, in atmospheric La Taverna Armento  (there’s a whole story attached to that restaurant too, and its close links with a village in Italy) or, in theconvincingly old-world Actons pub on their little ‘street’ - anyone who remembers Evan’s original Strawberry Tree bar & restaurant in Killarney will recognise the skill at work here. A former winner of the Guide’s Natural Food Award (in association with Euro-Toques, in 2003), BrookLodge has earned national recognition for its strong position on organic food - and their organic food markets are legendary. Having worked hard to maintain high standards stay in the frame during this difficult year, it’s a great tribute to the Doyle brothers and their team that so many people still think it’s a good idea to head down to Wicklow for a break these days: they are to be heartily congratulated.

AA Hotel of the year 2008 - 2009The AA, Ireland’s longest established hotel grading organisation, inspects over 700 establishments in Ireland each year as part of the awards process.  Constantly striving for innovation, the BrookLodge Hotel stood out as this year’s overall winner for its unique offering against a background of impeccable green credentials.

Irish Consumer Travel Awards 2009

On Tusday April 21st 2009, at a lavish awards ceremony in the RDS Dublin, well known TV Travel presenter, Kathryn Thomas, awarded The BrookLodge & Wells Spa the Irish Consumer Travel Awards 2009 - Best Leinster Hotel.

Supported by The Irish Times, Abroad Magazine, Ebookers and Virgin Atlantic, the winners were voted by members of the Irish Public in a poll independently audited by the DIT Tourism Research Centre.
