The Crew and Management here at Macreddin Village are delighted to announce that The Strawberry
Tree Restaurant received the deserving award of ‘Best Sustainable Practices’ at the Irish Restaurant
Leinster Regional Awards 2022, held at Knightsbrook, Trim Co. Meath. We are thrilled once again to
be recognised for our efforts in promoting sustainability and reducing waste, gearing towards a Greener Future for upcoming generations.

Established in 1970 and known as a representative body for the restaurant and hotel industry, The
Restaurants Association of Ireland have been organising The Irish Restaurant Awards since its
humble beginnings in 2009. With the main aim of recognising excellence in the restaurant and wider hospitality industry.

Each year the public are able to nominate their favorite restaurants, cafes, gastro pubs chefs and
overall food heroes. The number of public nominations is then combined with the results from a judging panel to give the Regional winners.

The Strawberry Tree Restaurant serves a daily changing menu that is totally dedicated to organic
ingredients and pays homage to the local farmers and suppliers that deliver food to our kitchens every
day. Macreddin Village’s ethos is built around the importance of Wild Foods. The Strawberry Tree
Brigade gather, cook and preserve an abundance of wild foods that are available along our many
kilometers of Irish hedgerows. All this hard work is on display in the treasure trove that is the Wild
Foods Pantry at The Strawberry Tree Restaurant. Organically Certified means yes to natural
ingredients, healthy soil, genetic diversity, natural landscape and habitats. Organically certified means
no to harmful pesticides, herbicides, GMO’s, irradiation, fumigation, synthetic additives and artificial
chemical fertilisers. Food with traceability, sustainability, zero tolerance of chemicals, good animal
husbandry and naturally grown are the foundation of The Strawberry Tree’s Organic Licence.
The Strawberry Tree Restaurant will now compete for the All Ireland Titles which will be announced at
the Irish Restaurant Awards All Ireland Final on Monday 19th September 2022 in the Convention Centre Dublin.
