National Geographic Traveller Feature

The Crew here at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village were delighted to have been featured in National Geographic’s recent feature – How to plan a weekend in County Wicklow, the beautiful ‘Garden of Ireland, written by Amelia Duggan.

We’re so very lucky to be located in such a stunning part of Ireland and are proud to call Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, home.

In her article, Amelia maps out a perfect 2-day, jampacked itinerary in County Wicklow – Wicklow as she describes, “is to be confronted, almost immediately, with some of the most soaring, timeless scenery the Emerald Isle has to offer.”

Amelia’s busy itinerary includes activities and visits to well-known and well-loved Wicklow tourist gems such as: kayaking at Bray Adventures, visiting Powerscourt Waterfall and experiencing a guided tour of Russborough House.

We were so delighted to see that Amelia recommends our award-winning restaurant, The Strawberry Tree, as the perfect place to wrap up your weekend in Wicklow, and we couldn’t agree more.

Amelia describes her visit to Ireland’s first and only restaurant-certified restaurant by praising the produce and ingredients – “Whether you go a la carte or opt for the 10-course tasting menu, each playful dish is a masterful expression of the current season using Irish produce. Most ingredients are grown on neighbouring organic farms or collected by in-house foragers, creating dishes such as sika venison tartare with fermented turnip and bilberry followed by wild woodruff creme brulee.”

We take great pride in The Strawberry Tree Restaurant, it’s a wonderfully welcoming place to enjoy fine dining, but also an iconic name in the world of Irish organic food.

Closing off her itinerary, Amelia recommends you “linger longer” by booking an overnight stay at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village. Our Bed & Breakfast & Full Dinner in The Strawberry Tree Experience is the perfect way to enjoy all that the village has to offer. Enjoy a luxurious overnight stay with a freshly cooked-to-order breakfast. This package also includes a five-course Dinner in The Strawberry Tree, showcasing the best in Wild & Organic foods.

We were delighted to receive such positive feedback from Amelia. We look forward to welcoming her back to BrookLodge in the future. You can read her full article here.
